The Different Styles Bluetooth Headphones – which is right for you?
Once you have seen all of the advantages that Bluetooth headphones offer, you will surely want a pair for yourself. You will quickly notice that Bluetooth headphones come in a variety of styles. Each style has it’s advantages and there is sure to be one that fits your needs. It is important that the headphones that you choose are comfortable to wear and will fit your lifestyle.
There are currently three main styles of Bluetooth headphones. Most of the models in all three styles include speakers and a microphone. So, in addition to listening to the music on your computer, MP3 player, or home stereo, you can pair them with your cell phone and use them to receive and make phone calls as well.
The first style uses earbud-like ear pieces attached to a neckband. The neckband is low profile, connects the two earbuds and adds support to help hold them in your ears. The Plantronics BackBeat and the Motorola High Definition Sweat Proof Bluetooth Stereo Headphones are examples of this type.
They are good for listening to music while exercising or running and also for walking around. The earbuds keep most of the environmental sounds out, but you can still hear some of what is around you. The Plantronics BackBeat model includes an extra microphone to listen to the outside world. Many of these models have volume and track selection controls on the headset.
The second style of Bluetooth headphones looks like regular DJ headphones. They have a headband that goes around your head and hold them firmly in place. They have earcups that go either on top of your ear, or around your whole ear. This style is designed to block out outside noise so that you can immerse yourself in the music.
This is the ideal style for serious music buffs, and because they are Bluetooth enabled, you have the wireless freedom to move around and not lose the sound. This type is most often paired with a Bluetooth capable computer or home stereo system, although they work fine with digital audio players too.
Because they are larger than the other two types, they have the longest battery life. A great Bluetooth Headphone in this style is the JayBird Sportsband Bluetooth Headphones.
Finally, there is the earbud style. This style has two earbuds connected by just a wire which is connected to a small control pod. The pod has the battery and Bluetooth electronics as well as controls for volume and track selection. The Jabra CLIPPER Bluetooth Stereo Headset is a good example of this type.
If you enjoy the comfort of earbuds, this style is great for everyday use. Wherever you go, you can listen to music from your MP3 player, and if you have these Bluetooth headphones paired with your phone, you can answer phone calls and the music will be paused while you talk.
Now that you have an overview of the different styles of Bluetooth Headphones, you can better decide which style fits your particular lifestyle and requirements. There are many models from several manufacturers within each category. All of them provide the many advantages of Bluetooth technology which is perfectly suited to the many uses of headphones without wires.
Bluetooth Wireless Headphones – first in convenience and versatility
Bluetooth headphones offer the convenience of mobility and the freedom from wires. Compared to the other types of wireless headphones, they are easier to use and more convenient.
The two other types of wireless headphones are Radio Frequency (RF) headphones and infrared (IR) headphones. Although both of
these types of headphones have their uses, Bluetooth headphones have most of the advantages and none of the limitations of the other types. RF headphones use radio waves to transmit the signal from the base station to the headphones, whereas IR headphones use infrared light waves.
Good range with low power consumption
Like RF headphones, the Bluetooth type, has a very long range. Most of the better ones, in the Class 1 category, can transmit over 100 meters. That means that the listener can be almost anywhere in their house or even their yard and still be able to listen to the music transmitted from their home stereo. But unlike RF headphones, Bluetooth enabled headphones use much less power. This translates to increased battery life and less recharging and also very long listening times.
Although IR headphones also don’t use much power, they only work when the headphones are in line-of-sight of the transmitter. That usually means in the same room, and sometimes only in part of the room. This is much less convenient for most types of listening. Even if you are only watching TV and wearing the headphones for audio, you will lose the sound if you leave the room to grab a snack.
A wide range of devices
Another advantage of Bluetooth technology is the wide range of supported devices. You can use Bluetooth capable headphones with mobile phones, digital media players, computers and game consoles. And since many Bluetooth headsets have built-in microphones, you can do more than listen, you can also talk. Wearing a pair of these headphones, you can listen to music from your cell phone and when a call comes in, you can easily interrupt the music to take the call. You both hear and talk on the cell phone using the Bluetooth headphones which is very convenient.
Great for computer gaming
These same features also makes Bluetooth headphones superior for computer gaming, especially if you use a chat feature. Being able to chat with other online players while enjoying the sounds of the game really makes game play more fun and much more engaging. And since Bluetooth headphones are light and comfortable, you can wear them for long periods. No radio frequency and few infrared headphones include this capability.
Great laptop computer addition
Because Bluetooth is supported by so many laptop computer manufacturers, they are a natural addition. With almost no setup, you can connect your Bluetooth headphones to your computer to listen to music in iTunes, Winamp, or Windows Medial Player. You can watch YouTube videos and have great sound in your ears and you can video chat using Skype or Google Chat. And you can do all this wirelessly, so you don’t have to worry about tripping over or becoming entangled in wires and you can move around without worrying about reaching the end of your tether and having the headphones yanked.
Convenient Setup
Bluetooth technology was designed to offer multiple device support and to make it really easy to connect devices to each other. It is simple to get Bluetooth headphones to receive the signal from your cell phone, computer, digital music player or other device. In most cases, you only have to enable one setting and enter in the password (provided by the device) and the headphones will “find” and link to the device. From then on, the headphones and the device will automatically connect when they are both enabled.
With easy setup, long transmission range, and compatibility with long and growing list of devices, Bluetooth headphones are the first type to consider when you are looking to purchase wireless headphones. And with a long list of available products, you are sure to find a pair that meets your needs and your budget.
